During the 2026 Taipei Art Week, contemporary artist Jun T. Lai presents her latest exhibition project, In the Depth of Light: Upstream Light, at SOCA Taipei.
This project carries forward the creative context of In the Depth of Light: Flying Sea, previously exhibited at Art Taipei with Artdoor Gallery. While Flying Sea combined flying fish, crystals, mirrors, light, sound, and imagery into an immersive, generative urban space, Upstream Light at SOCA Taipei debuts Lai’s latest monumental artwork, Upstream Light. The exhibition transforms the imagery of ocean currents into a philosophical quest for love and hope, reflecting viewers' silhouettes amidst colors and light to co-create an ever-evolving "aesthetics of free generation."
As viewers step into SOCA Taipei, their bodies, reflections, and voices—along with the surrounding streets and evening atmosphere—become part of the artwork. Art ceases to be a static, finished object; instead, it continuously unfolds and extends through every gaze, movement, and encounter.
