Walking on the Edge of Dreams: TSUI Yung-Yen Solo Exhibition
In Walking on the Edge of Dreams, TSUI YUNG-YEN draws upon her lived experience, transforming the profound sensibilities of motherhood into a delicate and tender sculptural language. The everyday act of accompanying her children as they grow fragments time into countless fleeting moments, while also allowing her to rediscover childhood and encounter herself anew. What once appeared to be moments of loss and fragmentation gradually accumulate through love and companionship, becoming a quiet force of continual renewal. This exhibition marks the first time TSUI YUNG-YEN has adopted ceramics as her primary medium. Through the extended processes of modeling, drying, and firing, she reflects on the uncertainties and unpredictability inherent in everyday life. The transformations of clay in the kiln mirror the way life is tempered over time; every crack and every subtle texture bears the traces of daily experience and the warmth of human emotion. The works invite viewers to step into the threshold between dreams and reality, where quiet contemplation reveals the enduring capacity for renewal and hope that emerges from the ordinary rhythms of life.
