Marked for Life explores traditional tattooing among Indigenous peoples across Asia and the Austronesian
world, focusing on identity, belief, ritual, and memory. Through historical materials, tattoo motifs, tools, visual records, textiles, and contemporary cultural revitalization, the exhibition reveals tattooing as a powerful expression of identity, social order, spirituality, and ancestral memory.
Featuring tattoo anthropologist Lars Krutak and curated by documentary filmmaker Emily Shen, the exhibition brings together lectures, book signings, film screenings, traditional tattoo demonstrations, and textile activities to foster cross-regional dialogue on Indigenous cultures.
