Within the development of contemporary ink painting in East Asia, Taiwanese artists have continuously explored the relationship between traditional brushwork and regional identity. Professor Zong Ren LI, grounded in classical Chinese painting, further expanded his artistic vision through his studies in the United States, developing a distinctive language that integrates Eastern aesthetics, Western perspectives, and the spirit of Taiwan’s island landscape. Centered on Taiwan’s mountains and natural environments, LI transforms traditional ink painting through the integration of ink, acrylic pigments, and layered brushwork on paper. His works transcend the depiction of scenery, becoming reflections on time, life, and the profound connection between humanity and nature. The exhibition presents over three decades of Zong Ren LI’s artistic exploration, inviting viewers to enter a contemplative dialogue with landscapes, memory, and the quiet essence of nature.
