Where the Mountain Reveals Itself-hen San Solo Exhibition
As global economic fluctuation and the relentless surge of AI, people find themselves ever more weary and disconnected. In the second half of 2026, artist Chen San presents his latest solo exhibition, "Where the Mountain Reveals Itself," inviting viewers to step away from a world built by algorithms, and to approach the natural landscapes that have always been there with humility. The Chinese term for "audience" (晉見Jìn-jiàn) traditionally refers to a formal act of paying respects to one's superior, yet it also carries the meaning of ascension and advancement from the Book of Changes (易經I-Ching). Chen San directs this act of honor toward the mountains and waters that exist eternally, beyond the reach of time. As questions of identity and existence are increasingly challenged, people become more anxious about their place in the world. It is precisely in such anxious times that we need to reconsider our relationship with nature, and through the stillness and permanence of mountains and waters, rediscover inner stability and healing. This exhibition continues Chen San's signature visual language, where vivid colors generate intense tension through force and contrast. Through abstract techniques, he fuses the spatial logic of Eastern landscape painting with Western oil painting, recreating that most moving moment—when, walking along a mountain path, then suddenly looks up to encounter a vast and luminous vista.
