As the curatorial theme for ART TAIPEI 2026, Magical Everyday explores the instability of contemporary reality shaped by image production, digital mediation, and the circulation of objects. Rather than framing the magical as an escape, the exhibition understands it as a perceptual shift emerging from within reality itself. As systems of memory, representation, and value begin to loosen, everyday experience becomes subtly displaced. In this context, the everyday is no longer stable or self-evident, but a constructed and mediated surface. Familiar images and objects remain, yet gradually reveal a sense of uncertainty, shifting viewing from recognition to hesitation. The presentation unfolds across three perspectives: Re-staging Histories examines how narratives are reconfigured; Thresholds of Perception addresses the shifting boundaries between reality and image; Reconstructed Objecthood explores how objects transform once removed from function.
