《Warm Carrier》 is an outdoor woven bamboo installation made from natural materials such as bamboo strips.
Blending natural materials, human habitation, and the space surrounding an old banyan tree, the artist has created a metaphor for a life-supporting vessel suited for nurturing living beings. The woven bamboo structure winds around and embraces the ancient banyan tree in Guangci Park, echoing the tree’s sprawling roots and vibrant vitality. The narrative of the work reflects this sense of thriving life, welcoming people who have relocated from all directions — like seeds drifting on the wind or migratory birds following the monsoon. As newcomers settle into this energetic social housing community, they find a place to grow, taking root in this nest-like, warm vessel where daily life unfolds.
Using bamboo, a warm and humble material, the artist takes advantage of its flexibility and tensile strength to create a flowing, inviting space that integrates the old banyan tree and surrounding pathways. As viewers move through this elastic space, the gaps between the bamboo strips allow air to circulate freely, while sunlight filters through from all directions. With the changing daylight, light and shadows dance across the structure, forming a dialogue between softness and strength. The interplay of solid and void creates a poetic space, telling a tender story rooted in the land and spirit of Guangci.
