Brightly Shines the Sun takes 241 decommissioned streetlamps, once scattered across Taipei's streets, and locks them back together on the exterior wall of the Taipower Building, forming one giant sun. Each lamp once lit up a different corner, a different era. Now they're reunited at the edge of the Wenluoding bookstore district, shifting between light and dark with day and night. You don't need to step inside; just walking down this street, you'll look up and run straight into this reunion of collective memory.

Through the arrangement of old lamp bases into a massive, sun-like circle, and using LED bulbs as the source of light, the work materializes the value of “environmental consciousness.” 《Brightly Shines the Sun》 objectively explores the cause-and-effect relationships in a post-technological civilization: consumption versus sustainability, value versus essence, future versus apocalypse, and insensitivity versus sensory awareness.

For viewers, this is an immersive experience in the thinking behind the work. A moment of suspended consciousness is created, allowing visitors to pass through and reflect.
