Coming home gives people a sense of belonging and direction.
While studying local texts, the artist was inspired by a phrase from the book City Among the Hills: “the ancient sacred beasts rising from the ground.” This led him to visit local temples around Guangci Social Housing, such as Fengtian Temple and Cihui Temple, experiencing their sacred and protective presence. Drawing further inspiration from the famous Nazca Lines in Peru, the artist sought to create new landscapes along the daily paths residents take on their way home.
The form of 《Pure Code》 resembles hieroglyphs, possessing a degree of readability and associative meaning, yet it also functions like incantation-like symbols — mysterious, concealed, and with an ambiguous practical purpose.
As residents travel their routes home, they physically and consciously interact with the work. Each symbol can be freely combined, read, and interpreted by viewers, allowing the hidden narrative to emerge in random and infinitely possible ways. Through these symbolic glyphs, the artist offers a protective intention and sincere blessing to the land and the community.
