The 2003 work Home Run (《紅不讓》) is a large-scale outdoor sculpture composed of four cubic units as its main structural body. It explores the beauty of geometric extension and transformation, as well as the aesthetics of the interplay between solid and void. The sculpture’s spatial permeability invites interaction and movement, reflecting the artist’s intention to create an approachable and engaging atmosphere.
As for its color, artist Lee Tsai-Chien (李再鈐) believed that “red is a fundamental color of the universe, symbolizing joy, passion, brightness, and progress.” Set within a plaza of subdued gray tones, the vivid red of the sculpture instantly enlivens and energizes the space.
