Beneath the atrium on the underground level of the Taipei Dome Mall, two enormous leaves face the light, suspended in midair, nurturing a newly planted sprout toward the sun. The installation symbolizes the cultivation of a sporting spirit in Taiwan within the Taipei Dome.
For 《Born of Rain and Light》, “the work is only complete when the rain falls.” As rain descends from the atrium and flows along the leaves toward the base, the stem of the sprout appears.
The artist hopes that, as an international sports venue, the Taipei Dome can plant a seed for sports in Taiwan, nurturing it so that, day and night, dreams may sprout and grow.
