The Digital Art Foundation (DAF) is a Taipei-based non-profit established in 2008, dedicated to exploring creative thinking within a rapidly changing technological society. For over fifteen years, the Foundation has worked at the intersection of art and technology, using emerging tools and media as material for artistic inquiry, experimentation, and critical reflection.
DAF's work spans technology art, performing arts, and public art. Its activities include curating and producing exhibitions, developing new artworks, coordinating international exchange, and running education and outreach programs. Across these efforts, the Foundation acts as a connective platform, bringing together artists, researchers, engineers, and cultural institutions to realize projects that would be difficult for any single party to achieve alone. This collaborative model has long been central to how digital art is produced and presented in Taiwan.
In recent years, DAF has deepened its engagement with artificial intelligence, immersive and extended-reality (XR) environments, and cross-site, cross-disciplinary creation. Recent projects examine how new technologies reshape perception, embodiment, and shared experience, pairing technical research with sustained artistic and curatorial thinking. The Foundation also continues to expand its network of international partners, developing collaborations and exchanges that place Taiwanese practice in dialogue with the wider world.
The Foundation grounds its work in local context while staying open to international conversation. It focuses on building lasting capacity: supporting artists over time, contributing to critical discourse around technology and art, and helping to sustain an ecosystem for experimental, cross-disciplinary practice. Through this ongoing work, DAF continues to develop a Taiwanese perspective on the questions that technology raises for contemporary art and society.
