Teh-Chun Art Gallery

Fifty-Seven Painting Association was initially composed of the 57th alumni of Department of Fine Arts of National Taiwan Normal University, and gradually joined the group of like-minded young people.

The artistic styles are diverse, integrating tradition and modernity, and capturing Eastern and Western painting elements and aesthetics.

The pursuit of memories stretches like drawing faint, indistinct lines. Through fragments of memories of her hometown's scenery and childhood experiences, Chen Meiyu reflects on the significance that life experiences during the growth process and the changing times bestow upon these memory images. She attempts to focus on the artistic form of lines, transforming the continuity of thoughts and emotions, with their varying degrees of clarity, into visual creations, and she seeks to connect these with the present moment and the global mindset.

There is a Western proverb: "An elephant never forgets." This illustrates the elephant's extraordinary memory abilities. Clever humans, on the other hand, use things outside their own minds as clues, such as the earliest line drawings, written characters, ropes, images, and now photographs.

The exhibition consists of three parts:

• "The Contours of Home" — The imagery of the distinctive features of her hometown's scenery
• "Glimpses of Flowing Time" — Fragments of scenes, people, or events preserved in memory
• "The Lost Fantasies" — Childhood experiences of getting lost or feelings of unease transformed into dreamlike images.

By awakening distant memories, it's like facing one's past self, trying to understand them better, and also wanting to share current thoughts with them, hoping even more to resonate emotionally with the viewers.
