Founded in 2020, the fine arts museum branch of Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Aborigines, is known as Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Fine Arts.
The museum founder, Honorary Chairman Lin, Safe Ching-Fu, has a passion for this land that he calls home and its culture. Since the 1970s, he has begun collecting indigenous artifacts and paintings by Taiwanese artists. In 1985, Mr. Lin established the N.W. Lin Foundation for Culture and Education, named after his father, aiming to preserve and promote Taiwan’s arts and culture. He then undertook the task of establishing Taiwan’s first private museum. The visionary task is taken over by next generation. Shung Ye Museum of Formosan Fine Arts celebrates its grand opening on June 10, 2020, under the leadership of chairperson Lin, Kristin Chun-Chi, the daughter of the founder.
The Museum has been established on the site of the Shung Ye Hang (predecessor to the Shung Ye Group). The Museum aims to pass down Taiwan’s arts and culture. We display the Taiwanese classic paintings donated by Mr. Lin, offer a variety of art educational programs and events, as well as cultivate future artists and museum professionals. We also collaborate with national and international educational and research institutions to create a cross-generational and geographical platform to promote Taiwan’s art.
