Since the 311 earthquake, Shinji Ohmaki has been deeply engaged with the philosophical question of \"how the world is created.\" This exhibition, titled \"Rotation and Revolution,\" extends the artist’s ongoing, profound exploration of themes such as \"how chaos gives rise to order,\" \"how an unstable world endures,\" and \"the role we play in this ever-changing world.\" Focusing particularly on the core question, \"What role do we play in this turbulent world?\" the artist seeks to guide the audience through his works, encouraging deep reflection on the subtle relationship between the individual and the other. The inspiration for the exhibition title comes from the resonance the artist found with dancers in relation to Camille Claudel’s work \"The Waltz.\" The dancers\' spinning movements symbolize the internal and external struggles individuals face. \"Rotation\" represents individual independence, while \"Revolution\" symbolizes interpersonal connections. The interplay of these two elements weaves a complex trajectory of life, propelling the world’s movement. Through this exhibition, Shinji Ohmaki invites the audience to re-examine our connection with the world through the lens of \"movement.\"
