Lam Tung Pang Solo Exhibition 《Everyone’s Journey Toward Faith is Different》
gdm is honored to present 《Everyone’s Journey Toward Faith is Different》, Lam Tung Pang’s first solo exhibition in Asia since relocating to Vancouver. The artist’s personal experience of growing up in Hong Kong, set against a backdrop of profound social transformation, resonates with the turbulence and uncertainty of the global condition. The exhibition features landscapes painted on wood panels that recall the spirit of literati traditions—works that serve both as meditations on upheaval and detachment, and as expressions of a longing for utopian imagination. The recurring imagery of migratory birds becomes a metaphor for adaptation and movement in times of change, embodying an identity in flux—shaped across journeys, foreign lands, and diverse communities.
At the center of the exhibition is a kinetic sculpture of praying hands, serving as a symbol of hope. In an age marked by uncertainty and social unrest, it conveys the wish that each individual may embark on their own journey in search of faith and meaning. 《Everyone’s Journey Toward Faith is Different》 weaves together personal narratives and diasporic experiences, documenting a pivotal turning point in Lam Tung Pang’s life while offering viewers a contemplative space amid today’s sociopolitical realities.
