We are pleased to present Ever Unsettled: Works by Kiyoshi Hamada, the first solo exhibition in Taipei by a Japanese artist Kiyoshi Hamada, who has remained an active presence in the contemporary art scene for decades.
Hamada began his career as a print artist, and over the course of 50 years of artistic practice, he has continued to seek new forms of expression, guided by the Zen Buddhist phrase “Issho Fujyu” (literally, “never dwelling in one place”). This principle reflects his refusal to become complacent in his art, instead embracing constant evolution and exploration.
This exhibition traces Hamada’s artistic journey, presenting works ranging from his early print pieces to his more recent creations. Earlier this year, a large-scale retrospective of his work at the Museum of Art, Kochi — his hometown — garnered renewed attention to his artistic legacy. We invite you to experience the rich evolution of Hamada’s practice through this special exhibition.
