Creating for the Everyday – Aino, Elissa and Alvar Aalto
The exhibition Creating for the Everyday – Aino, Elissa and Alvar Aalto is a collaboration between the Jut Art Museum and the Alvar Aalto Foundation. Starting from Alvar Aalto’s life history, this exhibition is the first of its kind in Taiwan to systematically introduce Aalto’s partnerships with his two architect wives, Aino and Elissa Aalto, across architecture, design, and daily life during different periods. Extending from the scale of “home” to public buildings and urban spaces, Aalto’s work integrates the fusion of nature, light, and materials in a symbiotic harmony with the environment. Featuring a fine selection of important manuscripts, models, and furniture from the Foundation’s collection—ranging from private residences to public architecture, handcrafted objects to mass-produced furniture—the exhibition reveals how the Aaltos’ architectural and design practices were deeply embedded in the quotidian. Their work continues to inspire contemporary thinking in architecture and design through its enduring relevance and profound humanism.
