About

Tao Art Space is designed by Japanese architect Jun Aoki, inspired by Chinese classical gardens and winding corridors. Unlike the straightforward Western expressions, Chinese classical gardens conceal more than they reveal. Using irregular winding corridors and windows, Jun Aoki intensifies the spatial contrast; through the guidance of circulation, the permeation and layers change, enabling viewers’ line of sight to give the space rich combinations.

Jointly founded by Vicky Chen and her father, Tao Art centers on collectors and the promotion of art, making itself a platform for Taiwan and international art world. The interior is designed by Japanese architect Jun Aoki based on the idea of "urban garden", combining classical and modern elements along with contemporary lifestyles to demonstrate how art lives with us in our life through the gallery’s white cubes, tea house, living room and further on. Other than paintings, Tao Art expects to present various art forms that would be experimental or installations centered on conceptual art. Born to a family with a tradition of collecting, Vicky refines herself to fuse classical, modern, and contemporary art together and presents audiences the diverse lifestyles and possibilities.
